Just as the Cinémathèque française is honoring Jean-Marie Lavalou, François Reumont, in this article, updates the terms he used to trace the Louma’s history in his Grip’s Guide to Filming (Guide Machinerie de la prise de vues), published in 2004 by Editions Dujarric (preface by Jean-Marie Lavalou and Alain Masseron). The text is followed by an interview published in 2005 in Le Technicien du film following the Academy Award of Merit given in Los Angeles, by a more personal contribution by the author, and by the aforementioned preface.

On Saturday 2, July, the Imago TC (ITC) gave a seminar at the Euro Cine Expo in Munich. Among the many shootings of this month of May we have chosen to share this feature film which was close to our hearts. It is an adaptation of the play Une histoire d’amour (A Story of Love) which was written and directed by Alexis Michalik, and photographed by Marie Spencer, AFC, SBC.

Now that Madame Claude has been broadcast, I thought it would be interesting to have a look at the postproduction process of this film’s image and at the tools used during it. I reawakened a few memories during discussions with Gilles Granier and Arnaud Caréo, respectively the colorist and technical director at Labo Paris (associate member of the AFC).
