AFC Micro Salon 2009

[ English ] [ français ]

For its ninth year, the Micro Salon hosted by the AFC will be once again held at the Femis School in the 18th district of Paris.
First novelty : unlike previous years, the Salon will take place over two days, on Friday February 6th, from 10AM to 8PM and on Saturday February 7th, from 10AM to 5PM.
Another innovation : the AFC will organize two panel discussions on Saturday morning in the Jean Renoir screening room of the Femis.
To highlight the artistic as well as the technical aspects of custom-made shooting tools, there will be a panel presentation with film excerpts by members of the crew of Oceans, the upcoming huge film project directed by Jacques Cluzaud and Jacques Perrin.
Also, this year the AFC has decided to open the Micro Salon to Europe, and to present European directors of photography by inviting our sister Belgian association, the SBC, to whom we give carte blanche.

Saturday, February 7th
11 am to noon : Panel discussion on the artistic choices of the film Oceans
Directors of photography Philippe Ros and Luc Drion, underwater cameraman René Heuzey, mini-helicopter operator Frederic Jacquemin, and co-director Jacques Cluzaud, will explain their approaches and discuss the artistic choices that led to the development and creation of custom tools for this film. The discussion will be moderated by AFC consultant member Benjamin B, and illustrated by film clips.
Alexandre Bügel will be present during the two days to present some the equipment used on the film in an area made available by the AFC near the Jean Renoir screening room.

noon to 1 pm : Carte blanche to the SBC (Belgium Society of Cinematographers)
The SBC was founded in 1993 by Michel Baudour, Raymond Fromont, Goeffers André, Michel Houssiau, Jean-Claude Neckelbrouck, Patrice Payen, Willy Stassen, Walther Vanden Ende, Vandermeeren Yves and Michel Van Laer. Presided by Willy Stassen, the SBC has been an active member of IMAGO, the Federation of European Directors of photography, since 1994.
This discussion will allow us to share many points of view and to peer behind film credits to meet well-established cinematographers.

As far as the Micro Salon equipment show and screenings are concerned, there are no changes in placement or format.
As usual, the basement level will be reserved for companies with lighting and grip equipment, the ground floor to those with camera equipment, and the second floor for film manufacturers, post-production companies and screenings.

Since its inception, the Micro Salon de l’AFC has relied on the unwavering support of the CNC, our host the Femis, and the partnership with our exhibiting associate members.
