Angénieux presents at Camerimage the Optimo 44-440 A2S and the Angenieux Type EZ series

Complementary to the Optimo 56-152 A2S released in 2013, and the Optimo 30-72 A2S released in 2015, the Optimo 44-440 A2S is the brand new lens in the Optimo anamorphic 2x Squeeze series. This lens introduction represents a major design advancement for Angénieux and rounds out company’s position of ongoing industry leadership in high end optics for cinema.
The Optimo 44-440 A2S zoom lens features traditional 2x horizontal squeeze, minimum breathing and distortion, and a fast aperture of T:4.5 across the zoom range. It has a great close focus of 4ft 1in (1.24m), and is one of the lightest lens in its class at 16.6lbs (7.55kg). The lens creates a unique image that combines controlled background with an aesthetically dimensional foreground. The Optimo 44-440 A2S brings what many refer to as a “creamy and organic look” that Angenieux zooms are known for.
The Angénieux A2S zoom lenses blend perfectly with the anamorphic prime lenses in the market. Their unique mount design allows a quick swap between PL and PV mounts. And the focus scale ring is easily interchangeable from feet to meters. The 44-440 Optimo A2S features built-in encoders providing metadata (focus, zoom,T-stop) via the industry standard /i Technology interface developed by Cooke and can be used with the 1.4x Optimo extender.

Another strong benefit of this lens, which generated a real enthusiasm among the rental houses, is the lens modular design (IRO technology™) that allows the lens conversion from anamorphic to spherical. The Optimo 44-440 A2S (T4.5- MOD 4.1ft/1.24m) can be converted to a 25-250mm (T3.5 – MOD 4ft/1.21m) spherical lens by exchanging the rear optical element and the Focus, Zoom and T-stop markings

Created to fill the wide gap between basic still photography zooms, and the highly acclaimed Optimo, Optimo Style family of lenses used in the motion pictures industry, the Angénieux Type EZ series features two new light weight zooms. These two lenses also integrate the Angenieux innovative lens modular design (Interchangeable Rear Optics IRO technology™), which allows the rear lens group to be exchanged between S35mm (up to 30mm image diagonal), and FF/VistaVision format (up to 46mm image diagonal). The Type EZ-1 is a 30-90mm /T2 in S35mm and becomes a 45-135mm/T3 in Full Format. The Type EZ-2 is a 15-40mm / T2 and becomes a 22-60mm/ T3 in Full Format. For the first time, ENG-style productions will get the flexibility necessary for run-and-gun shooting, combined with an excellence of image quality at an affordable price. Users can also easily change between PL, Canon EF and Sony E mounts.
