  The 2013 Micro Salon promises to be a great one!

  The 13th annual Micro Salon will be held at La fémis on 22-23 February 2013. Just to remind everyone of the importance of this event a few days before its opening, the poster shows that the goal pursued by all in attendance, from the cinematographers to the guests and the manufacturers and suppliers of the tools of our trade, is the image on the screen. Each and every screen! More than fifty associate members of the AFC will attend this year to present their know-how. In preparation for these two very intense days, we have provided below a preview of the schedule, main activities, and a few new products that you will be invited to discover.

  Cinematographer Darius Khondji, AFC, ASC, discusses his work on "Love" by Michael Haneke

  Since his beginnings as a director of photography in the early 1990’s alongside Jean-Pierre Jeunet and FJ Hossang, Darius Khondji, AFC, ASC, has developed an international reputation through his work on films by some of the greatest directors on both sides of the Atlantic. His impressive filmography includes David Fincher’s Seven, Roman Polanski’s The Ninth Gate, Wong Kar-wai’s My Blueberry Nights, or Midnight in Paris by Woody Allen. Today, he is competing in the 65th Cannes Film Festival with his film Love, directed by Michael Haneke.
  This is his second film with this great director, following Funny Games in 2007.

  Micro Salon 2012: an important and exceptional event

  Once again, the curtain fell on the Micro Salon with acclaim for its success. We know that if the event is held again in the future, there are many things that could be improved. But, the presentations made by our associate member partners on their know-how were a success, whether they took place at their booth, during a workshop, or at a screening.

  AFC Micro Salon 2009: exhibitors and screening schedule

  

  To make your visit easier during the two days of the Micro Salon, click below to get a listing of all the companies – all associate members of the AFC – who are exhibitors this year, as well as a schedule of the screenings.
  Note that, as usual, the basement level of the Fémis will be reserved for companies presenting grip and lighting equipment, the ground floor for those with camera equipment and 2nd floor for film manufacturers, post-production companies and, of course, the screenings.
  Also remember that one of the novelties of the Micro Salon this year, will be two panel discussions with AFC guests on Saturday morning.

  From Wednesday May 14th to Saturday May 24th, the new Image Pavilion marked the AFC’s presence at the 61st edition of the Cannes Film Festival. The Image Pavilion was made possible by the financial support of some of our associate members: Agfa, Cininter, Fujifilm, K5600, Kodak, Mikros Image, Panavision, Quinta and TSF. We would like to express our hearty thanks, with a special mention of our three "film stock fairy godmothers" who facilitated the lodging of AFC DPs. The Image Pavilion was also made possible by the generosity and dedication of AFC members.

  The AFC "Micro Salon" 2008, a worthy success

  

  The 8th edition of the AFC "Micro Salon" ("micro trade show") was held on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Fémis film school in the 18th district in Paris between 10 AM and 10 PM.
  The AFC Micro Salon has been supported by the CNC (National Cinema Center) and the Fémis since its inception. We wish to thank the school’s director, Marc Nicolas, and his team for welcoming us so faithfully in this cinema landmark in the middle of Paris, on the site of the historic Francoeur sound stages.
  This year Veronique Cayla, general director of the CNC, and Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, honored us with their presence.

• 12 September 2007 - Cannes films festival 2007

  L’Avocat de la terreur (Terror’s Advocate)

  directed by Barbet Schroeder, cinematography by Caroline Champetier, AFC

  

  L’Avocat de la terreur was shot discontinuously over several months. With the ongoing investigation, informations would keep coming in, which made for incredibly suspenseful meetings and constantly provoked new encounters.
  Two lengthy interviews were conducted with Jacques Vergès at a few months interval, but the high point of the shooting was the trip to Algiers.
