Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC, in the spotlight of Cannes Classics

One of the opportunities the Cannes Festival offers in it’s Cannes Classics program is to revisit its classics, and this 69th edition will allow you to discover Close Encounters with Vilmos Zsigmond, a documentary film by Pierre Filmon that retraces the life of the director of photography from the streets of Budapest to Hollywood. Film personalities and renowned directors of photography intervene and interview him in order to trace a portrait of a complete artist.

John Travolta, Isabelle Huppert, Nancy Allen, Peter Fonda, Richard Donner, John Boorman, Caleb Deschanel, ASC, Vittorio Storaro AIC, ASC, Darius Khondji, AFC, ASC, Bruno Delbonnel, AFC, ASC, Jerry Schatzberg, Stephen Goldblatt, ASC, Ivan Passer, Fred Goodrich, ASC, Pierre-William Glenn, AFC, Yuri Neyman, ASC, and Susan Roether Zsigmond participate in this work.

We remember that Vilmos Zsigmond was honored at the 67th Cannes Festival, receiving the “Pierre Angenieux ExcelLens in Cinematography” that Thales Angenieux bestowed upon him.

We also note that Close Encounters with Vilmos Zsigmond will be part of the program at the French Cinematheque’s homage to the director of photography at the beginning of July, and that the cinema release is expected for next autumn.
