Imago celebrates its thirtieth anniversary in Rome, 24-25 March 2023
By Richard Andry, AFC

Luciano Tovoli, AIC, spearheaded the creation of Imago, the European Federation of Cinematographers Societies, in 1992. Its original constituent societies were four European cinematographers’ societies: AIC (Italy), AFC (France), BSC (Great Britain), BVK (Germany). In 2023, it was renamed the International Federation and now has 54 member societies. The thirtieth anniversary celebration took place simultaneously with Imago’s Annual General Assembly (IAGA) in Rome, Imago’s birthplace. I was invited to represent the AFC at this event.

The AFC’s Return to Imago
By Eric Gautier, Vice-President of the AFC in charge of International Affairs

Letter to the AFC’s active and associate members.
As you know, the AFC has joined Imago, effective on March 12 of this year. I am very proud of having successfully fulfilled the mission that the AFC President, Gilles Porte, and Board of Directors, had assigned to me. In order to complete this mission, last September I put together a group composed of Marie Spencer, Jean-Marie Dreujou and Gilles Porte. This group later grew to include about ten members [1]. Their advice was extremely valuable.

The AFC was represented by Gilles Porte, its President, and Eric Gautier, who is in charge of international affairs.

After an introducing welcome from IMAGO President Nigel Walters, BSC, the Assembly discussed numerous points (25 in the agenda) of more or less importance.

Imago "Inspiration!" Seminar
by Eric Guichard, AFC

"Inspiration!", the seminar organized by Imago, the European Federation of directors of photography, was held in Copenhagen (Denmark) from October 31 to November 2, 2008.
First, let me express my warmest thanks to the Imago team, its chairman Nigel Walters, BSC, Jan Weincke, president of the DDF, Andreas Fischer-Hansen, DDF, Paul Rene Roestad, FNF and Tina Sorensen, head to the National Film School of Denmark, who welcomed all the participants. The team organized this seminar in a seamless and, above all, friendly fashion, with a theme, entitled "Inspiration", which was far from easy to develop.
