The Robby Müller Award is a collaboration between the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), the Netherlands Society of Cinematographers (NSC) and Andrea Müller-Schirmer, Robby Müller’s wife. For our upcoming edition the award goes to French cinematographer Hélène Louvart, whose cinematography is also featured in Limelight title, Un petit frère, by director Léonor Serraille.

The Winners of the 20th Prix Lumières announced

During the 20th annual Prix Lumière awards, whose awards ceremony took place on Monday, 2 February 2015 in the Espace Pierre Cardin in Paris, the film Timbuktu, by Abderrahmane Sissako, cinematography by Sofiane El Fani, won the awards for best film and for best director. Cinematographer Rémy Chevrin, AFC, was awarded the CST’s Special Award for A la vie, by Jean-Jacques Zilberman.

The 2015 Scientific and Technical Academy Awards Announced

Organized by the “Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,” the 87th award dinner for the Scientific and Technical Academy Awards was held on Saturday, 7 February 2015 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills (California). In total, twenty-one awards were given out to fifty-eight different personalities from the cinema industry. Leica and Sony, associate mmbers of the AFC, were amongst those recognized.

The Ostrava Kamera Oko Festival is a small event created by Jacub Felcman, a young film lover who is an active participant in juries at international festivals. This is a festival dedicated to our profession. Jacub is a former student of the Famu, the famous Prague school whose graduates we can thank for the funny and creative Czech New Wave.

During its Summer Luncheon at Pinewood on Sunday 22nd July 2012, the BSC was delighted to announce the winner of the Best Cinematographer Award for 2011 : Guillaume Schiffman, AFC for The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius. The award was presented in presence of Guillaume himself.

At the Seville European Film Festival the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced the nominations for the European Film Awards 2011. The more than 2,500 EFA Members will now vote for the winners which will be presented during the awards ceremony on 3 December in Berlin.

Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s Amélie, shot by Bruno Delbonnel, AFC, ASC, has been named the best-shot film of 1998-2008 in a recent online poll conducted by American Cinematographer. "This is real honor for me, especially considering the other movies in this list," said Delbonnel. "These are some of the finest cinematographers, and I’m not sure I deserve to be among them, but I am very happy to be. They are all explorers." At the Seville European Film Festival the European Film Academy and EFA Productions announced the nominations for the 22nd European Film Awards. At the same time, the new EFA-website with lots of information about the Awards went online at www.europeanfilmawards.eu

John Mathieson, BSC Best Cinematography Award 2006

BSC Awards

During its Annual General Meeting on Sunday 9th April 2006, the BSC was delighted to announce the winner of the Best Cinematography Award for 2006 : John Mathieson, BSC for Phantom of The Opera directed by Joel Schumacher.
The award will be presented at the BSC Operators Night Dinner on Friday 8th December 2006.
