The latest news from Papa Sierra: the AlUla exhibition at the Institut du monde arabe, back to the Venice Film Festival, a special edition for Papa Sierra and The Paris-Tours, legendary cycling race.

AlUla exhibition
On 9th October the AlUla exhibition was unveiled at the Institut du monde arabe. On this occasion the French-Saudi archaeological mission led by CNRS researcher Laila Nehme, has made available its finds, objects, maps, remains ... The valley of Al Ula, has been, since the end of the Neolithic, the theater of a succession of many civilizations. On the ground floor of the exhibition three large screens were installed to project images of Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Papa Sierra. The looped sequence presents impressive landscapes of Saudi Arabia. The country dreams of changing its image, attracting visitors, and in particular making the Al Ula region in the northwest a must-see tourist destination.

Back to the Venice Film Festival, a special edition for Papa Sierra
In early September was held the prestigious Cinema Festival. This 76th edition was a special moment for Papa Sierra as Anastasia Mikova and Yann Arthus-Bertrand presented their next film, Woman. The projection of this documentary film, feminist and committed, caused a great emotion in the audience of the Palace of the Cinema. The 1500 people have reserved a standing-ovation of fifteen minutes at the end of the session which was the world premiere.
In the selection, the film won the Premio Sfera 1932 award. This award, which is the 4th edition, distinguishes an out-of-competition film, "whose power evocative alert on the need to make sustainable choices for the future while developing the quality of life ".
In addition, Olivier Assayass’Cuban Network which we wrote about in our previous newsletter was presented in official competition of the Venice Film Festival.

The Paris-Tours, legendary cycling race
Papa Sierra closely followed the riders during the 217 km of the race, deliciously named la Classique des feuilles mortes, from place Châtelet in Chartres for the presentation of the teams (city-departure since last year) until the Avenue de Gramont in Tours for the arrival.
In order to deliver a HDR UHD signal to Euromedia, our client for this operation, we filmed with our brand new GSS B512 system. Installed on a helicopter Ecureuil, this gyro-stabilized system is equipped with the Sony HDC-P50 camera and a Canon CJ45 zoom.
The benefits of HDR are considerable when it comes to filming the diversity of landscapes and variations of light throughout the day, and subject to the vagaries of time.
