Nathalie Coste-Cerdan nominated General Director of La fémis
Formerly the director of Ciné+ TV channel, then of its cinema programming, and then later the director of cinema for the Canal+ group, Nathalie Coste-Cerdan will use her professional experience and her intimate knowledge of the world of cinema in all of its diversity in order to enhance the development and the influence of this prestigious public institution.
She will be especially attentive to strengthening the ties between the professionals working in the cinema industry and the students of La fémis throughout their education. She will also strive to make the school accessible to students from all backgrounds, and especially those from underprivileged neighbourhoods.
The minister wishes to recognize the remarkable work of Marc Nicolas, who was able to broaden the scope of the courses offered at La fémis, reinforce its global presence by creating partnerships with twelve prestigious cinema schools across the world, and who made the institution part of PSL (Paris-Science-Letters). He also implemented a number of ambitious programmes destined to increase the equality of opportunity, such as La Résidence, which was created last year and spearheaded by the President of the Board, Raoul Peck.
