The Camerimage Festival (which will be called the EnergaCAMERIMAGE festival for another 3 years since Energa is its “strategic” sponsor) has announced that it will hold its 28th Annual Festival from 14-21 November 2020 and has provided information about how it will be organized in a hybrid fashion, both in Toruń (Poland) and online. Moreover, this year’s festival will honor Philippe Rousselot, AFC, ASC, who has been nominated for many prizes and who received an Academy Award®, a BAFTA Award, and three Césars.

Having worked alongside the likes of Robert Redford, Tim Burton, Stephen Frears, Patrice Chéreau, Neil Jordan, Shane Black, Milos Forman, David Yates, Denzel Washington and Jean-Jacques Annaud, the French cinematographer Philippe Rousselot will receive the Camerimage Lifetime Achievement Award in Toruń this year.

Excerpts from a press relase dated 28 September 2020 on the new formula
Bearing in mind the safety of fans of the seventh art and the unique atmosphere of EnergaCAMERIMAGE, we are pleased to announce that this year’s edition of the Festival will be held in a hybrid formula, which means the possibility of participating in the Festival both on site and online. It is a solution often chosen by Polish and foreign film festivals, offering the possibility of watching films and participating in a wide range of accompanying events either on site, in festival cinemas, or via the festival’s online platform. The Festival Center will be located in CKK Jordanki. Film screenings, seminars, meetings with filmmakers and discussion panels will also be held at the Centrum Cinema at CSW, the headquarter of the Tumult Foundation, and Cinema City Czerwona Droga. For the first time, the festival will be held in close cooperation between two organizers - the Tumult Foundation and the European Film Center CAMERIMAGE.

Cinemas will have a seat limit (currently the limit is 50%). Festival participants will be required to keep social distance and cover their mouth and nose during participation in the events.

The EnergaCAMERIMAGE Market will take place in a new, virtual version.

We will announce the lists of competition films and the recipients of special awards in a separate newsletter. The festival program will be released in the second half of October.

Out of concern for the safety of our participants, we decided to suspend this year’s edition of the Homestay program.
The sale of entry cards will start in mid-October.

We remind our readers that some of the AFC’s associate members are also official sponsors of EnergaCAMERIMAGE : Arri, Canon, Hawk (Vantage), Panasonic, Panavision, Sony and Zeiss. Others are industry sponsors : Leitz, Lee Filters and Panalux. The ACS, ASC, BSC and BVK, as well as the Imago Federation, are associative sponsors of the event.
