"Women In Cinematography” petition for equal gender and diversity at Camerimage
The AFC has signed a petition, launched by "Women In Cinematography", calling on the Camerimage Festival to work towards a greater presence of women in its various events. Most festivals, including Berlin, Cannes, Manaki Brothers, San Sebastian and many others, have been taking steps in this direction for some years now. Camerimage remains a predominantly male, white and even American Festival... For many years, the AFC has participated in this Festival, one of the few dedicated to the cinematographic image (along with Manaki). Let’s try to get things moving. Everyone can sign this petition individually.
The petition gives a call on the founders and team of Camerimage Festival to take greater strides towards equal gender representation of cinematographers at its prestigious festival. We have underscored the need for sustained efforts to increase the presence of diversity in the selection process, juries, workshops, and panels. This is a crucial step toward fostering long-term change in our industry and we hope we can count on your support, creating a more inclusive and diverse film industry.
