In memoriam: Jean-Jacques Beineix
By Philippe Rousselot, AFC, ASCFrom those years, I remember what is (often erroneously) called the privilege of youth: imagination, creativity, humor, daring, insouciance. This is the memory that I retain of those years, which, for me, Jean-Jacques embodied.
Shooting Diva was in some ways a fun game, but La Lune dans le caniveau was much less so (we had to unwillingly toe the line). I cherish that memory and I miss Jean-Jacques. I have never forgotten how much my career owes to Diva and to our work on the two films we made together during my early years. It is through him that I realize how much I miss my youth.
