We recently worked on three French feature-films and a series for Netflix ; these are the subject of this month article.

Our last projects :

We had the chance to shoot for the biopic of Captain Cousteau directed by Jerôme Salle, The Odyssey (released in October 2016). We shot air-air images of a vintage seaplane above the Biscarosse Sea last August. Helicopter pilot (AS 350-B3) for the shot, Luc dealt extremely well with the aerial coordination of both flying engines. We shot many images for the opening with the Shotover K1 equipped with the Red Epic Dragon Camera and a set of two lenses : the new Arri Anamorphic Ultra-Wide Zoom 19-36mm/T4.2 and the Angénieux 24-290mm/T2.8. We were the first, for this shooting, to use this Arri lens :

DoP Matias Boucard :
‘I have found the AUWZ to be perfect complementary tool to the Master Anamorphic lens set. The optical qualities of this lens make it possible to shoot landscapes in extreme wide angle, whilst maintaining consistent backgrounds and undistorted horizon. You feel the dynamic of a short focal length without getting the usual deformations or limitations, so this zoom make you want to take risks and explore new creative perspectives. In combination with the Master Anamorphic series, it brings great freedom to working in the anamorphic format.’ (Full article)

We also shot at the Isle of Ré with the Shotover K1, for the feature film of Jerôme Commandeur Ré, weekend de pont (no realease date announced).

Our drone also did the job : we have just finished the shooting of Camping 3 in Arcachon and in the Parisian region (Drone + Red Epic, 24mm lens) ; we went in the Eure region, for the shouting of the Netflix series "Chef’s Table" (Drone + Red Epic Dragon).

Released in October :
Belles familles, directed by Jean-Paul Rappeneau and shot by Thierry Arbogast, AFC ; released on October the 14th (Helicopter with the Super-G, production ARPROD).
Bernard Bolzinger (Production manager) : ‘Jean-Paul is delighted by his images, especially one which is perfect in its movement and light’.

Belles Familles is the story of a single man, living in Shanghai, who comes back to Paris for business matter. He is willing to save the family house, located in a country town.
With many rewards during his career (Cesar for the best director, Cesar for the best film, Cesar for the best original scenario, nominated for the Bafta and Oscars…), Jean-Paul Rappeneau is the director of the unforgettable Cyrano de Bergerac (with Gérard Depardieu, 1990), Les Mariés de l’An II (1971) or Le Hussard sur le toit (1995).
