Cinematographer Élodie Tahtane has just joined the AFC as a member. Her AFC sponsors are Axel Cosnefroy and Pascale Marin, who present this newcomer whom they advocated for in front of the association’s Board when they proposed her candidacy to the existing members.

Élodie Tahtane, a talented cinematographer with immense personal strengths, by Axel Cosnefroy, AFC
I have known Élodie for nearly 15 years. She was my assistant on a few projects, and also worked as the assistant to Martial Schmeltz and Laurent Tangy, AFC.
Later, when Élodie became a cinematographer, she worked for Api Corp, where I also spent about a decade.
So, I have always kept abreast of her career.
She earned her place as a cinematographer and is now very recognized, especially thanks to the Gucci, Chanel and Dior films… and the music videos by Travis Scott and Kanye West, and Lomepal, amongst so many others…
She has been able to carve out a place for herself amongst the best of her generation.
After she filmed a very successful Cartier commercial directed by Cédric Klapish, he asked her to shoot his feature film Deux moi.
She has just begun preparation for a feature film directed by Koya Kamura (France-Japan) and produced by my friend, the Korean producer Yoon Seok Nam (Keystone Films). Shooting will take place at Socho, in Korea, in February and March.
Élodie wanted to take some time off between these two film for artistic and personal reasons, as she is also managing her life as a mom.
Besides being a talented director of photography, Élodie also has immense personal strengths, as you will soon come to know.
For all of these reasons, I am proud to sponsor her.

Élodie Tahtane, one of us, by Pascale Marin, AFC
A debate recently occurred at the AFC : should our association reflect the reality of our profession, or should it model a path towards greater gender equality and diversity in our profession ?
I unreservedly opted for the latter. That is why it is not a coincidence that I decided to simultaneously sponsor Kanamé Onoyama and Élodie Tahtane as AFC active members. A man from Japan, a woman from Algeria, but above all, two talented cinematographers.

Élodie, after a few years as an assistant camera operator, began a highly-regarded career shooting music videos : "Cœur", by Clara Luciani, "Auburn", by Lompal, "Words Hurt", by Naïve New Beaters… and commercials : Gucci, Chanel, Vogue x Dior, Harper’s Bazaar…
She worked with Cédric Klapisch for the first time on a Cartier commercial entitled "How Far Would You Go For Love ?". He later asked her to work with him again on his feature film Deux moi – about the way two young urban singles Ana Girardot and François Civil finally meet – the cinematography of this film is highly elegant, portraying everyday Parisian life with subtle beauty and magnified faces.
Although Élodie hasn’t begun work on another feature film since, this is because she wants to be present for her children, a strong choice that she is perfectly at ease with.
Élodie organized it so that her 21-month-old could come along with her on the shoot of Winter in Sokcho (Koya Kamura’s first feature, starring Roshdy Zem), which she began shooting in early 2023 in South Korea.
What place does our profession have in our lives, or our lives in our profession ?
I know that with Élodie as part of our association, the answers to these questions will begin to surpass the clichés.
