AFC-related activities

Introducing the cinematographers nominated in one of the four sections of the AFC Awards. As a reminder, the winners will be announced at the award ceremony on 8 February 2024 (during the AFC Micro Salon).

The French Society of Cinematographers is proud to announce the nominees of the first Prix AFC’s edition. Tabulation of the nominees was overseen by a lawyer, Maître Bouvet, 354 rue Saint-Honoré, 75001 Paris, on December 15^th, 2023. The winners will be announced at the MICRO SALON AFC (Parc Floral de Paris) on February 7^th, 2024. Thanks to all the cinematographers for their participation !

The AFC Micro Salon will be held for the 24rd time in the Hall de la Pinède du Parc Floral de Paris, on Wednesday, 7^th February (10:00-20:30) and Thursday 8^th February (10:00-18:00). Once again, this year’s Micro Salon will be combined with the AFC Postproduction Days. Registration is now open and we request that attendees if possible print their named admission badges before the event.

In late June 2023, during the Euro Cine Expo in Munich (cinema equipment trade show), Claire & Rob Sanders, the managers, gave six slots to the Imago Technical Committee (ITC) to exhibit their work. Among these presentations, ITC proposed a panel entitled “Artistic decisions in cinematography - To be burned or not to be burned?”

In keeping with our time-tested formula: one location, two dates, three reasons to visit the AFC’s Micro Salon and to note next year’s dates in your calendar, Wednesday 7^th February and Thursday 8^th February 2024 at the Parc Floral de Paris.

The AFC is happy to announce that it will be organizing its first-ever AFC Award Ceremony in 2024. This ceremony will recognize excellence in cinematographic work.

At 8:30 a.m., the lights go out and the film begins. This is the beginning of my day as a festivalgoer. It is the beginning of the day for a member of the Caméra d’Or jury. I am very honored and grateful to the AFC for allowing me to spend two weeks at Cannes. I tried to show myself from time to time at the AFC stand, but my schedule didn’t allow me many opportunities. Watching films was my sole occupation for ten days, then discussing, speaking, sharing my feelings about them with the other members of the jury.

Cinematographer Guillaume Le Grontec, recently admitted as an active member of the AFC, is here introduced by his two sponsors, Romain Lacourbas, AFC, ASC, and David Quesemand, AFC, in the same terms they used to introduce his application for membership and support it.
