For his first film as a director, Ronan Day-Lewis tells the story of a man who suddenly left everything behind to live as a hermit, secluded in the forest. When his brother finally finds him after more than twenty years, a long journey towards his return to social life ensues. A cowritten screenplay with his father, actor Daniel Day-Lewis, who also gave him the opportunity to be back on a set after a seven years break. Shot in Anglesey island, Wales, the film opened the 2025 Camerimage Festival. British cinematographer Ben Fordesman, BSC, is lensing this dark and cold film. He talks to us about the shoot and his passion for filming faces. (FR)
