De nombreux hommages ont été rendus à Jeanne Moreau, comédienne, actrice, chanteuse, réalisatrice, rappelant ainsi à notre mémoire combien sa figure iconique aura illuminé, pendant près de soixante ans, la scène et le cinéma français. Se joignant à ce concert de louanges venues du monde entier, le directeur de la photographie John Bailey, ASC, témoigne à sa manière du souffle de vitalité qu’elle n’a cessé d’apporter sur nos écrans.

Début 2023, le réalisateur David Moreau rencontre le producteur Yohan Baiada qui vient de produire Astérix et Obélix, l’Empire du Milieu, un film au budget colossal qui engrange déjà des millions d’entrées. Il est à la fois amusé et séduit quand David Moreau lui propose de tourner exactement l’inverse ; un film fantastique pas cher tourné en UN SEUL plan de 90 minutes avec des copains très motivés.

Directed by Laure de Butler ("Syndrome E" for TF1 or "Irrésistible" for Disney), the "37 secondes" series tackles an unsolved mystery dating back to January 15, 2004, the sudden sinking of the trawler "Bugaled Breizh" in international waters south of Lizard Cape. Solidly documented and filmed at the scene of the tragedy, this 6-episode series produced for the Arte Channel has been selected in French competition at this year’s Séries Mania. Benjamin Louet, who shot the images, talks to us about the filming process, where history and fiction coexist intimately. (FR)

Norwegian cinematographer Benjamin Loeb, FNF, has two films in selection at Cannes this year: When You Finish Saving the World, the first feature by actor Jesse Eisenberg (Mark Zuckerberg from The Social Network), and Sick of Myself, by his countryman Kristoffer Borgli. Two independent films shot on film (16 and 35mm 2 perf), testifying to the return of many projects at Cannes that have chosen film to translate their vision onto the screen.
