ACS France’s team offers you the Hydra, an advanced technology multi-camera array that produces incredible high-quality images and can be used on many platforms, and gives feed-back on a helicopter shooting that combines the Shotover K1, the Sony Venice camera and the Angénieux Optimo 12x zoom lens.

Shotover K1 & Hydra
For your shooting in Europe, ACS France’s team in association with Team 5 offer you the Hydra, a multi-camera array. This advanced technology produces incredible high-quality images. It can be used on many platforms such as helicopters, cranes or camera cars and can be switched from one to another very quickly.

The Hydra Array combines the Shotover K1 stabilized platform and an advanced panoramic payload of six RED 6K cameras with 24mm Canon lenses. This system provides footage that can construct frames spanning 152 degrees by 60 degrees field of view.

Alone, each one of the cameras provides an angle of view of 54 degrees horizontal and a 6K image of 6.144 X 3.456 pixels. But the Hydra goes further and produces footages with images in 14K of 18.000 x 7.000 pixels when the 6 cameras overlap each other slightly to create a continuous image.

It will allow you to shoot for 30 to 40 minutes before reloading, and the six cards are precisely identified by their position in the Hydra. One of the great advantages of this system is that it is pre-built so there is no time lost due to the sensors settings and camera alignment, and the production does not have to rent the cameras separately. The six Canon 24mm lenses are also provided.

This technology produces immersive and very realistic footage for VFX. The Hydra core can be replaced on location with a traditional single-camera payload to meet the needs of both the main and VFX units with a single gimbal.

Shotover K1 and Sony Venice
ACS France’s team recently took part in a feature film shooting in Ibiza. We took care of the helicopter aerial filming on the coast and at sea, producing vehicles and boat tracking shots, as well as aerial footages of the city.

In order to shoot these, the team used a Sony Venice with an Angénieux optimo 12x giving a very large zoom range with a very high optical quality. The new Sony Venice provides Sony’s distinctive image rendering with beautiful natural colors. It has both qualities of the F55 and F65 and has also gained in ergonomics.

The Shotover K1 gyro-stabilization system, placed on the nose of the helicopter allows to carry this camera/lens combination in the air. Its easy handling makes it possible to perfectly stabilize images even on very long focal lengths and to deal with complex aerial shots with great serenity.

Using the helicopter for aerial shots is also a huge advantage. In one days going from one filming location to another can be done very quickly without having to move the entire team and finalize many shots with a few flights. It flies faster, higher and the aircraft can carry the heaviest and most stable gyro-stabilized gimbal on the market.

That’s why the helicopter/Shotover K1/Sonny Venice/Angénieux Optimo 12x combination is so effective. The Angénieux lens is a reference in aerial filming and the Shotover K1 placed on the helicopter can utilize all its capabilities in the best conditions. In addition, the Venice which fits perfectly into this package is equipped with remote controlled integrated filter, an ideal option during helicopter filming.
