Cinematographer Andreas Fischer-Hansen, DFF, has passed away
By Richard Andry, AFCHe was a lover of Paris, of our cinema, of our culture and was delighted to sip a cup of coffee or a small glass of white wine on the terraces of Montmartre cafés, where he used to meet his friends. It reminded him of a part of his youth spent in Paris, time from which he brought back images of the general strike and of the events of May 1968.
Andreas was a cultured, delightful, generous and honest person. He was able to combine a career as a cinematographer with teaching and setting pedagogic programs at the Danish film school in Copenhagen and at the University of Tallin in Estonia.
In 2003, at a time when the existence of Imago, after catastrophic financial management, was in great danger, he agreed to occupy the Presidency and put the Federation back on track. Since then, as honorary member, he has always been present with Imago, he was a kind of moral guarantee with the DFF which had always been very committed to it.
As long as his health allowed him, he lived in a very rustic way in a small house in the beautiful Danish countryside on the north coast of the island of Zealand, where he raised a few sheep. I went to visit him from time to time. We talked about life, near the wood stove, while sipping a little drink. He offered me “Life” by Keith Richards. A book he loved.
He was a good and nice person and a faithful friend. I will never forget him.
I attach the obituary letter sent by Jan Weincke, President of the DFF.
