Polish filmmaker Pawel Pawlikowski is back after his highly-regarded film Ida, in 2013 (Oscar for Best Foreign Film) with Cold War, a love story set to a background of music and tension between East and West. His countryman and Oscar nominee Łukasz Żal, PSC, was the director of photography, again in black and white and 1.37 aspect ratio. The film is in the Official Competition for the 2018 Golden Palm at Cannes Film Festival. (FR)

Après le 38^e ASC Award, remis le 3 mars 2024 à Hoyte van Hoytema, ASC, FSF, NSC, pour Oppenheimer, c’était au tour des Oscars de décerner, le 10 mars, celui de la Photographie au film de Christopher Nolan, qui a obtenu l’Oscar de la Réalisation. À noter par ailleurs que l’Oscar du Scénario original est allé au film Anatomie d’une chute, écrit par Justine Triet, qui l’a réalisé, et Arthur Harari, et photographié par Simon Beaufils.

After working on a gangster movie written by Nick Cave, a biblical movie based on a story by Oscar Wilde, and a spy movie based on a story by John le Carré, Benoît Delhomme, AFC, just filmed the biopic dedicated to the life of Stephen Hawking and his romance with his first wife, Jane. A film by James Marsh, a British director of documentaries who received an Oscar in 2007 for Man on Wire. (F.R.)
