The IMAGO Technical Committee invites you to view Alfonso Parra ADFC’s tests of the Sony FX9 Camera. Alfonso is renowned for conducting an honest testing regimen that showcases a camera’s capabilities, demonstrates its strengths, and shows how far he can push the limits of a camera. The Sony FX9 camera tests presented by Alfonso and his colleagues demonstrate the balance of technical and creative artistic performance in the Sony FX9.

Le 4 décembre 2024, Charles Poynton, membre associé du Comité technique d’Imago (ITC), a réuni pendant une journée à Londres un panel d’experts sur la question du métamérisme. Miga Bär, NSC, membre associé de l’ITC, Christian Wieberg-Nielsen, FNF, membre de l’ITC, et Veronica Tiron, membre de l’ADIT, ont participé à cette journée et ont rassemblé leurs notes pour partager ce compte-rendu avec tous les membres d’Imago.

Pour la première fois depuis sa création en 1992, l’Assemblée générale annuelle d’IMAGO (IAGA) se tiendra sur le continent américain, marquant un tournant pour la fédération. Cette édition, seulement la deuxième organisée hors d’Europe, symbolise l’engagement d’IMAGO à rassembler et soutenir les directeurs et directrices de la photographie du monde entier.

Sous le titre "L’itinéraire d’un directeur de la photographie enraciné dans la philosophie, la photographie et le cinéma", IMAGO présente ainsi Paul Guilhaume : Paul Guilhaume, AFC, est un directeur de la photographie français qui a une approche unique de la création d’images. Son approche de la cinématographie a été façonnée par un mélange de curiosité intellectuelle, de passion pour la photographie et d’un amour profond pour le pouvoir émotionnel du cinéma.

Sur son site Internet, la fédération Imago publie un article d’Alfonso Parra, directeur de la photographie d’origine espagnole, installé en Colombie. Auteur de nombreux articles, réflexions personnelles ou analyses techniques à l’ère du numérique, Alfonso Parra nous propose ici une réflexion sur l’incidence de l’I.A. dans la cinématographie tout en s’interrogeant sur le statut du directeur de la photographie. *

J’ai rencontré Oleksandr Kryshtalovych, UGC, à une assemblée générale d’Imago à Rome au printemps 2023 quand il était venu exposer les conditions de vie et de travail des directeurs et directrices de la photographie de son pays en temps de guerre. Nous avons sympathisé et, avec mes faibles moyens, j’ai essayé de l’aider.

We are very saddened to hear of the passing, in his 83rd year, of the Danish cinematographer Andreas Fischer-Hansen, DFF. He was a Francophile and a great friend of the AFC, who never failed to visit us during events that we have organized in Paris : Micro Salon, Caméflex Festival, IAGA Imago 2012 and a lot of other meetings.

Nous avons la tristesse d’apprendre le décès, le 25 juillet dans sa quatre-vingt troisième année, du directeur de la photographie danois Andréas Fischer-Hansen, DFF. Francophile, il était un grand ami de l’AFC et ne manquait pas de nous visiter à l’occasion de manifestations que nous organisions : Micro Salon, Festival Caméflex, IAGA Imago 2012 et beaucoup d’autres réunions.

Le dimanche 2 juin dernier, Imago (Fédération internationale des associations de directeurs et directrices de la photographie) avait organisé une première conférence en ligne "Art et Technologie : L’Arri Alexa 35", à laquelle intervenaient Evgenia Alexandrova, AFC, Alejandro Mejía, AMC, Art Adams, DoP et formateur Arri Academy, et Alfonso Parra, AEC, ADF. Une vidéo de cette visioconférence est désormais en ligne sur la chaîne YouTube d’Imago.

The Annual General Assembly of Imago (IAGA) – the International Federation of Cinematographers – was held in London from 14-15 February 2024, hosted by the BSC. Richard Andry, who represented the AFC alongside Jean-Marie Dreujou, Eric Guichard (Imago’s Controller) and Denis Lenoir (Board member), has written the following detailed and illustrated recap of this event.

Selected for Berlinale 2024, Claire Burger’s Langue étrangère (Foreign Language) crosses paths between France and Germany through a first adolescent love story. Julien Poupard, AFC, reunites with the director (with whom he has already shot several films) to bring this story of sensual, amorous and political awakening to life between Leipzig and Strasbourg. The film is in official competition for the 74th Golden Bear. (FR)

Cinematographer Martin Roux has just joined the AFC as an active member. His sponsors, cinematographers Céline Bozon, AFC and Caroline Champetier, AFC, introduce the newcomer to our association in the following paragraphs.

Luciano Tovoli, AIC, spearheaded the creation of Imago, the European Federation of Cinematographers Societies, in 1992. Its original constituent societies were four European cinematographers’ societies : AIC (Italy), AFC (France), BSC (Great Britain), BVK (Germany). In 2023, it was renamed the International Federation and now has 54 member societies. The thirtieth anniversary celebration took place simultaneously with Imago’s Annual General Assembly (IAGA) in Rome, Imago’s birthplace. I was invited to represent the AFC at this event.

Imago, European Federation of Cinematographers Societies (Fédération européenne des associations de direct(eurs)trices de la photographie), fut créée en 1992, à l’initiative de Luciano Tovoli, AIC, par quatre associations européennes de directeurs de la photographie : AIC (Italie), AFC (France), BSC (Grande-Bretagne), BVK (Allemagne). En 2023, devenue Fédération internationale, Imago regroupe 54 associations. Fêter dignement ce trentième anniversaire était couplé à la tenue d’une Assemblée Générale Annuelle d’Imago (IAGA) à Rome, lieu de naissance de la belle trentenaire. C’est à cet évènement que j’ai été invité pour y représenter l’AFC.

The AFC is pleased to announce its return to IMAGO – the ex-European and now International Federation of Cinematographers. The AFC’s return was unanimously acclaimed (except for one abstention) at Imago’s Annual General Assembly (IAGA), held on Wednesday, 12 March 2020 at Brussels. The AFC was represented by Gilles Porte, its President, and Eric Gautier, who is in charge of international affairs.

Organized by the Norwegian cinematographers of the FNF and the European Federation “Imago” in partnership with the Norwegian Film Institute and Nordisk Film & TV Fond, the 7th Oslo Digital Cinema Conference was held from 18-20 October 2019.

The IMAGO (European Federation of Cinematographers) Annual General Assembly (IAGA), organized with talent by our colleagues of the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC), was held from the 13th to the 15th of February 2009 at the British National Media Museum in Bradford, a charming UNESCO world heritage “cinematographic” town of West Yorshire, England.
AFC was represented by President Remy Chevrin, Robert Alazraki IMAGO Board Member and Richard Andry.
After an introducing welcome from IMAGO President Nigel Walters, BSC, the Assembly discussed numerous points (25 in the agenda) of more or less importance.
