The Robby Müller Award is a collaboration between the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), the Netherlands Society of Cinematographers (NSC) and Andrea Müller-Schirmer, Robby Müller’s wife. For our upcoming edition the award goes to French cinematographer Hélène Louvart, whose cinematography is also featured in Limelight title, Un petit frère, by director Léonor Serraille.

Hélène Louvart, AFC, signed off on the image of La Vie invisible, a Brazilian film presented at Un Certain Regard 2019. A story of two sisters that takes place from the 1950s to the present time. She tells us about her working relationship with Karim Ainouz, the director, and about their shared ambition to dare to create striking visual universes, and about how they learned to modulate that ambition so as to avoid being above the story and the characters, visually speaking. Cinematographer Hélène Louvart, AFC, has filmed over fifty feature-length films during her career, and has worked with many French and foreign directors. She filmed two of the foreign feature-length films at Cannes this year : Jaime Rosales’ Petra, selected in the Directors’ Fortnight, and Alice Rohrwacher’s Lazzaro felice. This is the third time that Hélène Louvart has worked with the Italian director. In 2014, The Wonders won the Grand Prix at Cannes. The director is back this year on the Croisette with Lazzaro felice, in Official Competition. (BB)

de Christophe Lidon.

Depuis les années 1990, la directrice de la photo Hélène Louvart, AFC, collabore avec de nombreux réalisateurs français et internationaux. Avec Murina, elle signe l’image du premier long métrage de la Croate Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic. Ce film est en sélection à la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs de cette 74^e édition du Festival de Cannes. Le "Robby Müller Award", créé en 2020, est une collaboration entre le Festival international du film de Rotterdam (IFFR), l’Association néerlandaise des directeurs de la photographie (NSC) et Andrea Müller-Schirmer, l’épouse de Robby Müller. Pour la quatrième édition de ce prix, la lauréate 2023 est la directrice de la photographie Hélène Louvart, AFC, dont la photographie est mise en évidence dans le titre "En vedette" Un petit frère, de la réalisatrice Léonor Serraille .

Cinematographer Hélène Louvart, AFC has worked with many French and foreign directors since the 1990s. With Murina, she has created the photography for Croatian director Antoneta Alamat Kusijanovic’s first feature film.
