Lauréat, entre autres, du Grand prix du Festival de Clermont-Ferrand et du César du Meilleur Court Métrage en 2014 avec Avant que de tout perdre, le réalisateur Xavier Legrand revient avec son premier long métrage, Jusqu’à la garde. Après avoir remporté le Lion d’argent et le Prix du Meilleur Premier Film à Venise, ce film très maîtrisé poursuit l’histoire du court métrage. Chose rare, que ce soit au casting ou dans l’équipe technique, Xavier Legrand et son producteur Alexandre Gavras ont fait preuve de fidélité en renouvelant leur confiance à l’ensemble de l’équipe du court métrage. En attendant sa sortie française le 7 février 2018, le film continue sa tournée enthousiaste des festivals et passe par Camerimage. Nathalie Durand, AFC, en profite pour nous raconter son tournage. Eric Gautier, AFC, answers a question regarding the potential paradox of filming a movie about a hypothetical apparition by the Virgin Mary with a smile and a recollection about the beginning of his adventure with Xavier Giannoli : “It’s a bit of a challenge to film the mystery of faith. The love of God is like any sort of love : there is no tangible proof, just the gift of oneself. Sincerity (and lies, like in other of Giannoli’s films) is at the heart of the story. The loneliness of the two characters, Jacques (Vincent Landon) and Anna (Galatea Bellugi) is the spark that sets the story in motion.”

Partenaire de longue date du réalisateur David Hourrègue, le directeur de la photographie Xavier Dolléans, AFC, l’a déjà suivi sur plusieurs séries comme "Cut" (France Ô) ou "Skam" (France TV Slash). Le duo s’étant bâti une certaine réputation grâce au succès de ces programmes, c’est avec la même équipe de production qu’ils se sont lancés sur leur première "grosse machine". En l’occurrence une nouvelle adaptation en six épisodes du roman "Germinal", tournés pour 12 millions d’euros. Une série diffusée en clair par France Télévisions qui est un des événements d’octobre 2021 pour la chaîne du service public. C’est aussi un événement pour Xavier, puisqu’il est pour la première fois en compétition à Toruń pour la meilleure image de pilote TV. (FR)

"Rivages" est une série télévisée franco-belge réalisée par David Hourrègue, dont les six épisodes sont diffusés depuis le 6 janvier sur France 2. Le directeur de la photographie Xavier Dolleans, AFC, revient ici sur les nombreux défis techniques qu’il a dû relever dans le cadre de ce tournage en milieu aquatique.

Director of photography Xavier Dolléans has chosen the Sony Venice camera, associated with Cooke Panchro/i Classic lenses, to shoot seasons 3 and 4 of "Skam France", the French version of the famous and innovative Norwegian series "Skam", which follows a group of teenagers in their daily lives.

Cinematographer Xavier Dolléans, AFC, partnership with director David Hourrègue is long-standing, and the two have worked together on several series, such as "Cut" (France Ô) and "Skam" (France TV Slash). The duo has built a certain reputation on the back of the success of these programmes, and they attacked their first big-budget project with the same production crew. This project is a new, six-episode adaptation of Zola’s novel Germinal, shot with a 12-million-Euro budget. This series will be broadcast on public television by France Télévisions and is expected to be one of the public service broadcaster’s main attractions of October 2021. This is also a major event for Xavier, who has been selected in competition at Toruń for Best Television Series Image. (FR)

La série "Mental", photographiée par Xavier Dolléans, vient de remporter le prix de la Meilleure série TV dans sa catégorie au Festival de La Rochelle. Le succès des quatre saisons de la série "Skam", qui raconte le quotidien de lycéens, a été inattendu autant que fulgurant avec 70 millions de vues cumulées sur la plateforme Slash de France Télévisions. Cela a permis à Xavier Dolléans de se forger une réputation de jeune directeur de la photo en recherche d’innovation, à contre-courant des recettes habituelles de la télévision.

Xavier Gens’ Sous la Seine has been available on Netflix since early June, and has since risen to become one of the most viewed programs on the platform. Meanwhile, the director, producers and the platform are being sued by another screenwriter who is claiming to have been the victim of plagiarism. This suspenseful film portrays the intrusion of a race of mutant sharks capable of adapting to fresh water and swimming up rivers, and has benefited from the fact that the Olympic Games are being held in Paris this year to generate buzz. Nicolas Massart, AFC, was in charge of the cinematography of this story, with many underwater scenes shot in the large European studio dedicated to this – Lites, in Brussels. (FR)

Director Xavier Legrand, winner of many awards, including the Grand Prix of the Clermont-Ferrand Festival and of the César for Best Short Film in 2014, is back with his first feature-length film, Jusqu’à la garde. After winning the Silver Lion and the award for best first film at the Venice Film Festival, this restrained film continues the story from his short film. Xavier Legrand and his producer Alexandre Gavras did something uncommon by deciding to work with the exact same team from the short film. While we await the film’s release in France on 7 February 2018, the film continues to meet with enthusiasm as it makes the rounds of film festivals, and will be screened at Camerimage.
