Barbara, qui n’est pas un biopic sur la "Dame en noir", sort sur les écrans pour les 20 ans de la disparition de la chanteuse. Mathieu Amalric signe ici son 6^e long métrage et revient sur la Croisette où il avait remporté le Prix de la mise en scène en 2010 pour Tournée. Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC, fidèle compagnon de lumière sur tous ses longs métrages, propose ici une photographie glamour et tente de transcender l’image de la mythique chanteuse portée par Jeanne Balibar. Barbara, which isn’t a biopic on “La Dame en noir”, releases in theaters for the twentieth anniversary of the singer’s death. Mathieu Almaric shoots his sixth long feature film and comes back on la Croisette, where he won the “Prix de la mise en scène” in 2010 for Tournée. Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC, Almaric’s Director of Photography for all his films, signs a glamorous photography and tries to transcend the image of the mythical singer, played by Jeanne Balibar. Christophe Beaucarne enchaîne les tournages depuis une vingtaine d’années et collabore avec de nombreux réalisateurs, dont Bruno Podalydès, Cédric Klapisch, Arnaud et Jean-Marie Larrieu, Jaco Van Dormael… Pour preuve, il signe l’image de deux films à Cannes cette année, Hors la loi de Rachid Bouchareb et Tournée de Mathieu Amalric.

For the past twenty years, Christophe Beaucarne has been working on features steadily, collaborating with many directors, including Bruno Podalydès, Cedric Klapish, Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieu, Jaco Van Dormael... So it was fitting to see his cinematography credit on not one but two films at Cannes this year : Outside the Law, by Rachid Bouchareb and On Tour, by Mathieu Amalric.

Christophe Beaucarne travaille depuis vingt ans avec des réalisateurs très différents sur des films aux univers visuels très variés. Il collabore aussi bien avec les frères Larrieu pour Un homme, un vrai et Peindre ou faire l’amour qu’avec Anne Fontaine pour Coco avant Chanel et Perfect Mother, avec Jaco Van Dormael pour Mr Nobody ou encore dernièrement avec Christophe Gans pour La Belle et la Bête.
Avec La Chambre bleue, quatrième long métrage de Mathieu Amalric, en compétition dans la section Un certain regard, Christophe Beaucarne consolide sa collaboration avec le réalisateur, après Le Stade de Wimbledon et Tournée. Adapté du roman éponyme de Georges Simenon, Mathieu Amalric y interprète le rôle principal au côté de Léa Drucker.

Christophe Beaucarne has been working for over twenty years with very different directors on films with very different visual worlds. He has worked with the Larrieu brothers on Un homme, un vrai and Peindre ou faire l’amour, and with Anne Fontaine on Coco Before Chanel and Perfect Mother, with Jaco Van Dormael on Mr. Nobody, and recently with Christophe Gans on Beauty and the Beast. With The Blue Room, the fourth feature film by Mathieu Amalric, competing in the Un Certain Regard section, Christophe Beaucarne is once again working with Amalric, following their collaborations on Stade de Wimbledon and Tournée. Adapted from the eponymous novel by Georges Simenon, Mathieu Amalric plays the lead role alongside Léa Drucker. (BB)

With Serre-moi fort, his eighth feature film, Mathieu Amalric returns to the Croisette for the third time, where he won best director in 2010 for Tournée. Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC, the faithful DP to many directors, has worked on almost all Amalric’s feature films. He has created a discreet and minimalistic lighting for this melodrama and has selected shots that are in perfect alliance with the plot. Serre-moi fort is part of the Cannes Première selection. Gilles Jacob et le jury du Louis-Delluc ont récompensé, vendredi 15 décembre 2017, le film Barbara, réalisé par Mathieu Amalric et photographié par Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC. Le prix Louis-Delluc du premier film a été attribué à Grave, long métrage de Julia Ducournau photographié par Ruben Impens, SBC.

Depuis 1951, le Prix Jean Vigo, qui veut être un prix d’encouragement et de confiance et non de consécration, récompense un long métrage et un film court pour leur indépendance d’esprit et la qualité de leur réalisation.

Certains réalisateurs sont des habitués de la Croisette et Arnaud Desplechin fait partie de ceux-là puisqu’il revient pour la 7^e fois à Cannes avec Les Fantômes d’Ismaël, film d’ouverture de ce 70^e festival dont Irina Lubtchansky a signé la photographie.

Some directors are regulars on the Croisette and Arnaud Desplechin is one of them, as this is his 7th time at Cannes, this year with Ismaël’s Ghosts, the film chosen to open the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival, and whose director of photography was Irina Lubtchansky.

Like their other films, Tralala, by Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieu, is an eccentric poem in which Mathieu Amalric, their favorite actor, plays a homeless musician who is visited by religious passion. Filmed between Paris and Lourdes (their hometown), this film is also a musical comedy where the different songs are sung by the actors themselves. Jonathan Ricquebourg, AFC, was behind the camera, and traveled alongside the filmmaker brothers on their strange journey to a city deserted by its pilgrims because of Covid. (FR)

Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC, works with loyal directors who call upon his talent to make most of their films. The list of these directors, from very different worlds – including the Larrieu brothers, Anne Fontaine, Bruno Podalydès, Mathieu Amalric –, recently grew with the addition of the name of Christophe Gans. The work of Christophe Beaucarne on Beauty and the Beast was nominated for the 2015 César awards. After Mr. Nobody, The Brand New Testament, a film by Jaco Van Dormael, was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes, the opportunity for Christophe Beaucarne to make his second film with his Belgian compatriot.

C’est en adaptant le roman éponyme de l’Italienne Milena Agus Mal de pierres que Nicole Garcia réalise son dernier long métrage. Alors qu’elle est une habituée de la Croisette avec 15 août, L’Adversaire et Selon Charlie, Mal de pierres concourt pour la Palme d’or de ce 69^e Festival. Nicole Garcia a fait appel à Christophe Beaucarne, AFC, SBC, fidèle collaborateur de Jaco Van Doermel, Mathieu Amalric ou encore Anne Fontaine, pour la mise en image de son huitième long métrage. Nicole Garcia ’s latest feature is an adaptation of the eponym novel written by the Italian Milena Agus : From the Land of the Moon. While she is no stranger to the Croisette with films like 15 Août, The Adversary, According to Charlie, From the Land of the Moon is in competition for the 69th Festival’s Palme d’Or. Dans la lignée de leurs autres films, Tralala, d’Arnaud et Jean-Marie Larrieu, est un poème un peu foutraque où Mathieu Amalric, leur comédien de prédilection, incarne cette fois-ci un musicien clochard visité par la passion. Filmé entre Paris et Lourdes (leur ville natale), ce film est également une comédie musicale où les différents morceaux sont interprétés par les comédiens eux-mêmes.
