Howard Preston is the founder of the company that bears his name and that manufacturers the world’s most widely used professional focus and lens control systems. Another high-profile manufacturer for the cinema industry, Jacques Delacoux, CEO of Transvideo, took advantage of Howard Preston’s attendance at the 13th Micro Salon to have an animated discussion with him.

Howard Preston est le fondateur de la société éponyme, qui fabrique notamment les systèmes de contrôle de mise au point HF les plus utilisés au monde sur les plateaux de cinéma. Sa présence au 13^e Micro Salon a été l’occasion d’une discussion animée par un autre industriel vedette du secteur : Jacques Delacoux, PDG de Transvideo.

Sous l’égide de Sony, six femmes et un homme ont été rassemblés pour débattre avec le public des problématiques posées par le tournage des scènes d’intimité. Le sous-titre de la conférence, "A discussion on female perspective", est décriée par le panel, qui juge la problématique non genrée et universelle, surtout dans un milieu professionnel où l’on dénombre encore une grande majorité d’hommes. Pourtant le public est essentiellement féminin. Menée par Carmen Vaya Albert, éditrice du magazine Camera&Light, la conversation a principalement porté sur le nouveau métier de coordinateur·rice d’intimité, de ses enjeux, et de la place des directeur·rice·s de la photographie sur le tournage de ces scènes particulières. In making the decision to produce a new adaptation of the greatest classic of Swedish literature, Norwegian filmmaker Erik Poppe (Utoya : July 22) had his work cut out for him. Because Jan Troell already made a screen adaptation in 1971 starring Max Von Sydow and Liv Ullman, then the two most famous Swedish and international film stars, it’s not an easy thing to make a contemporary remake… However, when you watch the film, you have to admit they’ve done a pretty good job in proposing a modern version of a classic tale in which the currently relevant themes of migration, women’s rights, and religion infuse each scene. John Christian Rosenlund, FNF, was in charge of the lighting on this saga, with an often-minimalistic staging.
